Alice's Garden

a glimpse inside the head of a manic trans girl

A Fool’s Goodbye

I tried to live, I tried to stand,
But every path led to your hand.
Each vow to heal, each step away,
Would break before the end of day.

I begged, I wept, I made a scene,
Hoping love could wash me clean.
If I held on, if I fought,
You’d find the love that once was sought.

But all I did was break the past,
Turn gold to dust, make beauty last
As nothing more than bitter shame,
A love now lost, a ruined name.

So here’s my end, no grand display,
No words to make you want to stay.
I was never strong enough,
Goodbye, my love, I lost enough...
